About 429,000 Peruvians will travel inside the country, tourism plan, during the holidays for national holidays between 28 July and 1 August next, today considered a report by the National Chamber of Commerce.
The destinations for residents in Peru are cash, whose flow of tourists will grow 13.6 percent, Mother of God with a rise of 11 percent, and Ayacucho, with a spike of 10.5 percent, according to the report, quoted by the state agency Angina.
In addition, tourism travel will also aim at the Andean Pun, Huancavelica and Jinni, where that activity will increase 9.6 percent, 9.4 percent and 8.5 percent respectively.
Cash is a popular destination especially for Lima because of its proximity to the capital (8 hours by car) and it has a chain of snowy mountains of South America’s most beautiful.
For its part, Mother of God offers a range of nature reserves in a jungle region bordering Brazil and Bolivia.
However, it is an expensive destination for Peruvians because their accommodations are in the middle of the jungle and are accessed only by river.
The study of the Chamber of Commerce estimates that 12,800 people visit cash, while 2500 will choose the jungle of Madre de Dies, which will arrive by air from the city of Casco in southeastern Peru.
The projections in the domestic tourist movement in the National Day holidays were obtained after analyzing the evolution of total travel and by region of Peruvian residents in the past seven years, with figures from the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism, said the source.
The Peruvian government expects to reach 2.2 million foreign tourists at the end of 2010, although its main attraction, the Inca citadel of Macho Picher, was closed in February and March due to the torrential rains that destroyed large tracts access by train.
The railway to Macho Picher will be fully reopened on Friday, after completing the repairs and cleaning that took five months.
